Chris Brown is an American R&B/pop singer, dancer, actor and Grammy Award winner. He was born Christopher Maurice Brown on May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia. His parents are Joyce Hawkins and Clinton Brown. He has an older sister named Lytrell Bundy. Browned was educated at Essex High School in Virginia. He dropped out in 2005 to pursue music.

CAREER
Brown started out singing in his local church choir. He also competed in a number of talent competitions. He was inspired by such artists as Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke and Stevie Wonder. Brown was discovered by Tina Davis of Def Jam Recordings. He landed a contract with Jive Records in 2004 and his self-titled debut studio album was released in 2005. The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the singles “Run It!”, “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)”, and “Gimme That”. Brown’s other albums include Exclusive (2007), Graffiti (2009), F.A.M.E (2011), Fortune (2012), X (2014) and Royalty (2015). He’s reportedly working on an eight album called Heartbreak on a Full Moon. Brown won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album for F.A.M.E in 2012.

Brown made his television debut in a 2006 episode of the sitcom, One on One. He followed up with multiple appearances on the teen drama series, The O.C. Brown made his movie debut in the 2007 drama and dance film ‘Stomp the Yard’. He later starred as Michael “Baby” Whitfield in This Christmas (2007). Other notable films include Takers (2010) with Paul Walker, Think Like a Man (2012) with Michael Ealy and Battle of the Year (2013) with Josh Holloway.

He was also romantically linked to Instagram star Ammika Harris. Brown was arrested on August 30, 2016 after a woman, Baylee Curran, claimed he threatened her with a gun. He was released from jail on a $250,000 bail.
